Manumed T is Manumed with the thumb included. The same slip-on brace and palm-side aluminium splint hold the wrist, and a thumb strap holds the thumb in a working position while the fingers stay completely free.

It is for cases needing the wrist immobilised with the thumb held too: a sprain of the wrist or thumb, immobilisation after surgery on either, lesions of the collateral ligaments at the base of the thumb, tendinitis and tenosynovitis of the wrist or thumb, inflammatory phases of rheumatic disease, and rhizarthritis.

Holding the thumb saddle joint and the knuckle above it in a functional position is what takes load off them; holding the wrist still is what reduces swelling and inflammation. The pre-moulded aluminium splints lift out and bend to the shape of the hand, an open slip-on design with retaining loops makes it possible to put on with one hand, and breathable medi Airtex material keeps it comfortable for long wear. medi says treatment only succeeds if the brace is worn consistently, and prints that it contains rigid material.

Hand wash only, in lukewarm water (about 30°C/86°F) with a mild detergent
Close all hook-and-loop (velcro) fasteners, straps, and zippers before washing to protect the fabric
Do not use fabric softener, bleach, or harsh chemicals; do not dry clean
Remove and clean any removable pads or cushions separately with water or mild soap
Air dry fully -- do not tumble dry, use a hair dryer, or dry in direct sunlight
Apply skin creams or lotions after removing the support in the evening, not right before putting it on, since they can affect the material's properties

medi publishes these steps for putting the brace on, and asks that a trained fitter instructs you the first time.

If the splints need shaping, take them out of the brace and bend them to the contour of your hand.
Open all the straps and slide your hand into the brace, with the aluminium splint underneath, against the palm.
Close the front strap first, then the back strap.
Close the wide middle strap; it is held on by hook-and-loop and can be moved before you fasten it.
Bring the thumb strap around the thumb and close it last.
