Levamed® is a compression support for the upper and lower ankle joints, knitted in medical compression class 2 with a 3D silicone pad built in on each side of the ankle. It is thin enough to wear inside a shoe and has no straps or splints, so it supports by compression rather than by locking the joint.

It is intended for an ankle that needs soft tissue compression with local padding: slight instability, sprains and distortions, joint effusions and swellings from arthritis and osteoarthritis, and chronic, post-operative or post-traumatic inflammation.

The silicone pads massage the area as you move, which helps reduce swelling and bruising, and the compressive knit can improve proprioception (your body's sense of where it is in space), so the body steadies the joint better on its own. An extended relief zone over the instep suits a high instep in particular, the knit is shaped at a 90-degree angle with an emphasised arch and lengthened underfoot, and a stretch zone at the top edge plus the enclosed balloon-silk donning aid make it easier to pull on and line up correctly.

Is this the right one for you?

Choose this if the ankle aches or swells from overuse or a strain, with no ligament or tendon diagnosis.

Sprained it, or does it give way? medi Levamed Active Ankle Brace stabilises the ligaments on the sides of the ankle.

Pain in the Achilles tendon? medi Achimed Achilles Tendon Support relieves the cord at the back of the heel.

Diagnosed with arthritis? Actimove Arthritis Care Ankle Support is built for arthritic ankle pain.

Medical-grade compression is commonly covered under Canadian extended health benefit plans (e.g. Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Blue Cross, Green Shield Canada) when accompanied by a valid prescription from your physician or nurse practitioner. It may also qualify as an eligible medical expense under the CRA's Medical Expense Tax Credit. We're happy to prepare an itemized estimate for your insurer — use Get an Insurance Estimate for this item, or add several to your cart and request one for everything at once. No charge, and it's not an order.
