Achimed is a knitted compression support for the Achilles tendon and the soft tissue around it. It works by compression rather than by splinting: a medical compression class 2 knit surrounds the ankle, and a two-part silicone pad sits on either side of the tendon so the pressure lands on the tissue beside it rather than on the tendon itself.

It is made for an Achilles tendon that is inflamed or painful, including acute and chronic tendon inflammation, achillodynia (pain in the lower part of the tendon) and achillobursitis (an inflamed bursa behind the heel).

As you move, the 3D-profiled pads massage the area, which helps disperse swelling and bruising. Two heel wedges are included; raising the heel takes tension off the tendon, and they are worn in both shoes at the same time so leg length stays even. The knit is shaped at a 90-degree angle with an extended relief zone over the instep, so it stays comfortable inside a shoe, and a balloon-silk donning aid is supplied to help you pull it on.
