The Aspen® Horizon™ PRO 631 LSO is a low-profile lumbar-sacral brace for acute and chronic lower back pain and for recovery after lumbar surgery or injury. Inelastic construction means the shell does not stretch as you move, so the compression you set is the compression you keep — which is what steadies fatigued trunk muscles rather than simply squeezing them.

The low profile is deliberate: it is slim enough to wear under clothing all day, which is usually the difference between a brace that gets worn and one that does not. One brace covers four sizing positions, and the two pull tabs tighten the lower and upper halves separately, so the top can be eased off when sitting.

Is this the right one for you?

Choose this if the pain is muscular or postural — everyday lower back pain, strain or fatigue, with no disc or joint diagnosis.

Been told it is a disc? medi Lumbamed Disc Back Support — Women is built for disc protrusion and prolapse.

Been told it is the facet joints? medi Lumbamed Facet Back Support relieves those small spinal joints specifically.

Pain lower down, across your pelvis or hips? Bauerfeind SacroLoc Pelvic Brace targets the joints where your spine meets your pelvis.

It may also qualify as an eligible medical expense under the CRA's Medical Expense Tax Credit. We're happy to prepare an itemized estimate for your insurer — use Get an Insurance Estimate for this item, or add several to your cart and request one for everything at once. No charge, and it's not an order. Coverage details, annual limits, and prescription requirements vary by plan, so please confirm your specific benefits with your provider and keep your prescription and itemized receipt for your claim.

  • Wash with mild detergent
  • Air dry
  • Do not use bleach or other chemicals

Aspen prints these steps; the first fitting of a post-surgical brace should be supervised by your clinician.

  • Set the size first: peel up the inside end of each side panel, adjust until the brace closes properly, and press it back down. Aspen's sizes follow standard trouser sizing closely and are guidelines only.
  • Place the pull tabs about 2 inches (5 cm) from the plastic at the back, then pull the ends apart so the brace is fully extended.
  • Put the brace on with the back panel centred and low on the back, and wrap it firmly around the abdomen with the right side overlapping the left.
  • Both the top and bottom edges should feel snug. If either gapes, take it off and reapply, angling the ends until both edges sit close.
  • Slip your thumbs through the holes in the pull tabs and pull away from your body. The left tab controls the lower compression, the right tab the upper.
  • Press the pull tabs down onto the hook-and-loop at the front to hold the compression.
  • Loosen or tighten either tab as the day goes on; easing the upper portion off a little when sitting is often more comfortable.
