This is a medical-grade orthopaedic brace that incorporates rigid structural support. Braces and orthoses built with rigid components are usually covered under Canadian extended health benefit plans (e.g. Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Blue Cross, Green Shield Canada) when accompanied by a valid prescription from your physician or nurse practitioner. It may also qualify as an eligible medical expense under the CRA's Medical Expense Tax Credit. We're happy to prepare an itemized estimate for your insurer — use Get an Insurance Estimate for this item, or add several to your cart and request one for everything at once. No charge, and it's not an order. • Wash the brace gently in lukewarm water (30 °C) with mild detergent and air dry
  • Do not dry it in the tumble dryer, on the heater or in the microwave
  • To avoid damaging other items of clothing during washing, it is best to wash the brace separately and close the hook-and-loop fasteners beforehand
  • Any tension in the knitted fabric that decreases over time is restored by washing
  • Sporlastic therefore recommends washing the brace more frequently

Sporlastic prints these steps in the instructions for use supplied with the product.

  • We recommend wearing a thin, tight-fitting T-shirt under the product.
  • VERTEBRADYN® STRONG is correctly positioned when the back section with the spring steel rods lies centrally over the spine and its orange-coloured lower edge ends over your sacrum.
  • To close the lumbar support brace, insert your fingers into the hand loops attached to both sides of the closure. Pull the brace apart behind your back with tension and guide it around your body. Tighten the two closure plates under tension in the middle of your abdomen.
  • Pull your fingers out of the loops and close the hook-and-loop fastener of VERTEBRADYN STRONG completely. When fastening, make sure the closure plates lie flush on top of each other.
  • Pull the lower right and left traction elements forward evenly under tension and slightly upwards, then fasten their ends to the closure plates under tension.
  • Pull the two upper traction elements forward evenly under tension and slightly diagonally downwards, then fasten their ends to the closure plates under tension as well.
  • VERTEBRADYN STRONG should fit snugly with high compression. The combination of the abdominal support with the straight spring steel rods bridging the lumbar spine and the traction elements can then provide significant relief for the lumbar spine. When you put it on with high compression, make sure it is still comfortable to wear.
  • The front lower end of VERTEBRADYN STRONG should be flush and parallel to the thigh when seated and should not cause pressure in the groin.
