mediven® Harmony with Hand Piece is a round-knit compression armsleeve with a matching hand piece, sometimes called a gauntlet, knitted at 20-30 mmHg of graduated compression — firmest at the wrist and easing as it travels up towards the shoulder, so the pressure moves fluid in the right direction. The hand piece carries the compression over the hand, to keep lymph fluid from collecting there while the sleeve is worn.

Double ellipses sit on the point of the elbow and in the crease, so the sleeve bends with the joint instead of bunching there; wrinkling, and the soreness wrinkles cause, is what that construction is designed to prevent. An innovative fabric structure works on the tissue as you move, and Clima Comfort keeps the skin comfortable year round.

The hand piece adds two flat seams and a wedge at the web of the thumb to take the tension off. A narrow napped silicone top band is knitted on with a flat seam, so it holds by texture and stays air-permeable rather than gripping like a sticky strip. It comes plain, with the top band, or with a shoulder cap and belt. For a sleeve that ends at the wrist, see the mediven Harmony 20-30 mmHg Compression Armsleeve.

Is this the right one for you?

Choose this if the sleeve should continue over your hand, to keep fluid from collecting there.

When only the arm needs compression: mediven Harmony 20-30 mmHg Compression Armsleeve the same armsleeve, ending at the wrist.

For a limb that swells and changes size through the day: JOBST FarrowWrap Gauntlet 20-30 mmHg wraps on and re-tightens as the swelling goes down.

This sleeve runs from the knuckles (A) to the armpit (G) with a hand piece, labelled AG in the style drawings.

Each Size names two things, read off the chart in this order:

  • Size — from the hand, wrist and forearm rows
  • Width — Regular or Extra-wide, from that size's elbow and armpit rows

Check the size chart below. If your measurements don't fit a size on it, contact us and we'll help.

  • Wash daily after wearing -- washing restores the fabric's elasticity
  • Hand wash, or machine wash on a gentle cycle between 30–40°C (86–104°F)
  • Use a mild detergent made for compression hosiery; never use fabric softener
  • Do not bleach or dry clean
  • Do not wring -- gently press out excess water in a towel instead
  • Turn stockings with a lace or crystal-motif band inside out and place in a laundry net before washing
  • Dry flat or tumble dry on a low/gentle setting; never dry in direct sun or on a radiator or heater

Put the armsleeve on first thing in the morning. If you shower and use skin cream, wait until your skin is completely dry — a damp arm makes the sleeve far harder to get on.

  • File your fingernails smooth first, and leave rings and a watch off until the sleeve is on.
  • Have fabric or rubber gloves ready; they grip the knit and make it much easier to distribute over the arm.
  • Gather the sleeve, slide your hand through the opening and work it up the forearm.
  • Spread the fabric evenly over the elbow and upper arm, smoothing out wrinkles as you go rather than pulling from the top.
  • Settle the hand part so the wedge sits at the web of the thumb without pulling.
  • Check the top band lies flat against the skin and is not rolled, then put your jewellery back on.
  • Ask us about the medi Arm Butler if reaching or gripping is difficult; it holds the sleeve open so you can push your arm straight in.

Unless your prescriber says otherwise, wear the sleeve from morning to night.
