protect.CAT Walker is a walker boot: a lightweight shell that holds the lower leg, ankle and foot in a set position, closed by four straps, with an air chamber inside and a rocker sole underneath.

It is for cases needing the lower leg and foot immobilised in a pre-set position — care after an Achilles tendon rupture, ligament reconstruction or soft tissue and tendon injuries; grade 2 and 3 Achilles tendon injuries, ligament lesions and tenosynovitis treated without surgery; stable foot and joint fractures such as a metatarsal, talus or malleolar fracture; and follow-up after ligament repair.

Four straps give the shell its stability, and a separate strap across the ankle bone limits it shifting forwards, which is what protects a healing Achilles tendon. A single air chamber runs down both sides of the ankle and on into the forefoot; an integrated pump and a release valve let you adjust the pressure yourself as swelling rises and falls. The sole is flat, rounded and slip-resistant, so walking stays closer to normal, and the toe protector can be adjusted or taken off. A short version is also made.

Length is not a size: the standard and the short walker are both made in these three shoe sizes. Choose the short version for a lower boot.

Hand wash only, in lukewarm water (about 30°C/86°F) with a mild detergent
Close all hook-and-loop (velcro) fasteners, straps, and zippers before washing to protect the fabric
Do not use fabric softener, bleach, or harsh chemicals; do not dry clean
Remove and clean any removable pads or cushions separately with water or mild soap
Air dry fully -- do not tumble dry, use a hair dryer, or dry in direct sunlight
Apply skin creams or lotions after removing the support in the evening, not right before putting it on, since they can affect the material's properties
