Relief of the lumbar spine and stabilization of the SI joints during and after pregnancy (postpartum regeneration).

The Spinova® Mum lumbar orthosis straightens and supports the lumbar spine, counteracting a hollow back with integrated rigid corset stays. Its intuitive belt system lifts the abdomen, stabilizes the pelvis, and relieves the sacroiliac joints through circular compression. Made from lightweight, breathable, and skin-friendly mesh, it ensures exceptional wearing comfort. Like every Bauerfeind product, it is made in Germany.

Braces and orthoses built with rigid components are usually covered under Canadian extended health benefit plans (e.g. Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Blue Cross, Green Shield Canada) when accompanied by a valid prescription from your physician or nurse practitioner. It may also qualify as an eligible medical expense under the CRA's Medical Expense Tax Credit. We're happy to prepare an itemized estimate for your insurer — use Get an Insurance Estimate for this item, or add several to your cart and request one for everything at once. No charge, and it's not an order. • Hand wash at 30°C (86°F) with a mild detergent when needed.
  • Close all the hook-and-loop (Velcro) fasteners first so the material is not damaged, and take out the sacroiliac pads with their hook-and-loop dots.
  • Wash the removable pads separately by hand at 30°C (86°F) with a mild detergent — the hook-and-loop dots must be taken off first and must not be washed.
  • Let the orthosis and the pads air dry.

The Spinova® Mum has two straps that do different jobs, and they are set one after the other.

  • Put the orthosis on so the pads sit either side of the base of the spine.
  • Pull the upper strap sideways: it lifts the belly and reduces the hollow in the lower back.
  • Tighten the lower strap from the front: it compresses the pelvis and steadies the sacroiliac joints and the pubic joint.
  • Reposition or remove the pads if your clinician suggests it — they are held on by hook-and-loop dots.

Bauerfeind asks that you read its instructions for use before wearing the Spinova Mum for the first time, and that a qualified fitter shows you how to use it.
