The VERTEBRADYN® STABIL is a lumbar brace for stabilising the lower back, one step firmer than VERTEBRADYN LIGHT. It is worn for lumbar pain and lumbar syndrome, for instability, for disc damage and after lumbar surgery.

The support comes from a stabilising element built into the back panel — anatomically pre-moulded steel bars that a fitter can bend to the wearer’s own shape. The brace is put on by putting a hand into the loop at each end, pulling it open behind the back and bringing it round; the closure plates are then tensioned over the abdomen and pressed together. Worn snugly it works as a pair: the bars steady the spine at the back while the abdominal pressure at the front takes load off it.

Is this the right one for you?

Choose this if the pain is muscular or postural — everyday lower back pain, strain or fatigue, with no disc or joint diagnosis.

Been told it is a disc? Sporlastic VERTEBRADYN AKTIV Back Brace is built for disc protrusion and prolapse.

Been told it is the facet joints? Bauerfeind LumboLoc Back Brace relieves those small spinal joints specifically.

Pain lower down, across your pelvis or hips? Sporlastic VERTEBRADYN ISG Back Brace targets the joints where your spine meets your pelvis.

  • Wash the brace in lukewarm water (30 °C) with mild detergent and air dry
  • Do not dry it in the tumble dryer, on the heater or in the microwave
  • To avoid damaging other items of clothing during washing, it is best to wash the brace separately or close the hook-and-loop fasteners beforehand
  • If the tension of the knitted fabric decreases over time, it can be restored by washing
  • Sporlastic therefore recommends washing the brace more frequently

Sporlastic prints these steps in the instructions for use supplied with the product.

  • We recommend wearing a thin, tight-fitting T-shirt under the product.
  • The correct positioning of the VERTEBRADYN® STABIL is achieved when the stabilising element in the back section comes to rest centrally over the lumbar spine.
  • The front lower end of the brace should be flush and parallel to the thigh when seated and should not cause any pressure in the groin.
  • To put on the brace, insert your fingers into the loops on both sides of the VERTEBRADYN STABIL closure. Pull the brace apart behind your back with tension and guide it around your body.
  • Tighten the closure plates under tension over your abdomen. Pull your fingers out of the loops and close the hook-and-loop fastener of the VERTEBRADYN STABIL completely.
  • Make sure the closure plates lie flush on top of each other when you fasten them.
  • VERTEBRADYN STABIL should fit snugly with high compression. In this way, the combination of the stabilising element in the lumbar region and the abdominal support can provide significant relief for the spinal column. When you put it on with high compression, make sure it is still comfortable to wear.
