Sigvaris Natural Rubber Knee High 50-60 mmHg Compression Socks Open Toe

$147.00

The Sigvaris Natural Rubber knee high is a graduated compression garment, knitted in high-containment 50-60 mmHg compression. Graduated compression is strongest at the ankle and eases as it travels up the leg. It covers the foot and calf and finishes just below the knee.

Natural Rubber is the highest-containment knit Sigvaris makes. The yarn blends nylon with natural latex rubber, which holds its power through a long day with very little fibre fatigue, and it is sized far more finely than an everyday stocking — ankle width, thigh width and leg length are all chosen separately for a close, custom-like fit.

The toe is left open, which keeps a seam off the toes, leaves them visible, and works under a sandal or an open shoe. The yarn contains natural rubber latex, so it is not a choice for anyone with a latex allergy.

Is this the right one for you?

Choose this if your vein disease is severe — this is built for high-containment therapy rather than everyday wear.

For a limb that swells and changes size through the day: Sigvaris Compreflex Standard Calf 20-50 mmHg Adjustable Compression Wrap wraps on and re-tightens as the swelling goes down.

Wearing it every day? mediven Forte Knee High 40-50 mmHg Compression Socks uses the toughest knit in the range.

This product provides medical-grade compression (50-60 mmHg). Medical-grade compression garments (20-30 mmHg and above) are commonly covered under Canadian extended health benefit plans (e.g. Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Blue Cross, Green Shield Canada) when accompanied by a valid prescription from your physician or nurse practitioner. It may also qualify as an eligible medical expense under the CRA's Medical Expense Tax Credit. We're happy to prepare an itemized estimate for your insurer — use Get an Insurance Estimate for this item, or add several to your cart and request one for everything at once. No charge, and it's not an order. Coverage details, annual limits, and prescription requirements vary by plan, so please confirm your specific benefits with your provider and keep your prescription and itemized receipt for your claim.

Measure first thing in the morning, before swelling builds, with the tape snug but not tight.

Measure standing, with your foot flat on the floor and your leg at a right angle to it.

Sizes are written as a letter and a digit:

Letter — the size, set by your ankle and calf
Digit — 3 is Short and 4 is Long, set by your calf length. Both are the Full calf cut; the Average cut is not made in this style.

Check the size chart below. If your measurements don't fit a size on it, contact us and we'll help.

Measure both legs and use the larger set of figures.

Wash after every wear, which maintains the compression and keeps the garment hygienic
Hand washing is recommended; you may machine wash on the gentle cycle in lukewarm water up to 40°C (104°F)
Turn the garment inside out and place it in a laundry net before washing
Use a mild detergent; never use bleach or fabric softener
Rinse well and air dry; do not tumble dry, iron or dry clean
Store at room temperature in a dry place, away from light and direct heat
Alternate two or more pairs, and replace them after about six months of daily wear, as compression diminishes with wearing and washing

Sigvaris recommends wearing donning gloves. They cut the chance of snagging the fabric on a fingernail, and the grip makes it easier to draw the garment up and smooth it out so the compression sits evenly.

Put your hand inside the garment and grab the heel between your thumb and fingers, as if making a sock puppet.
Still holding the heel, turn the garment inside out, which brings the heel to the front.
Step into the foot and place the heel of the garment just short of your own heel.
Gently unfold the garment, leaving a small single-layer band across the foot.
Put your finger into the fold and pop it over the heel.
Smooth out all wrinkles and set the top band two finger-widths below the right-angle bend of your knee; do not pull it any higher.

Put compression on first thing in the morning, while your legs are least swollen; if you are already up and about, lie down or sit with your legs raised for a while first.

To take it off, roll the top band down and stroke downward with flat hands as the garment doubles over itself, then pull it over the heel and off. If a garment is badly twisted, it is easier to take it off and start again than to straighten it on the leg.
