mediven Travel® is an over-the-counter travel sock for people with a healthy venous system who sit still for hours at a time. This version is knitted at 18-20 mmHg of graduated compression — firmest at the ankle, easing further up the leg so it works with your calf muscles to move blood back towards the heart.

The compression is controlled and degressive, and medi cites published evidence that graduated travel socks can reduce the risk of travel-related thrombosis (Hsieh and Lee, 2005). Clima Comfort pulls moisture off the skin, and high-tech fibres stretch both ways.

This is the knee-high version, stopping just below the knee with the cuff about 1 cm (½ in) under the crease behind the knee. The foot is closed toe, so the knit covers the whole foot. medi prints this range for CEAP classes C0 to C3; the full list is in the Indications tab.

This product provides mild, over-the-counter compression (18-20 mmHg), below the medical-grade 20-30 mmHg threshold. Canadian extended health benefit plans (e.g. Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Blue Cross, Green Shield Canada) generally reserve coverage for medical-grade compression of 20-30 mmHg or higher with a prescription, so this item is not usually eligible. If reimbursement is a factor, please confirm your plan's terms with your provider before ordering. We're happy to prepare an itemized estimate for your insurer — use Get an Insurance Estimate for this item, or add several to your cart and request one for everything at once. No charge, and it's not an order.

Measure first thing in the morning, before swelling builds, with the tape snug but not tight.

  • Fit here is only the sock's length — Petite or Regular, set by your calf length. Both are the women's sizing; the men's sock is a separate listing.

Check the size chart below. If your measurements don't fit a size on it, contact us and we'll help.

  • Wash daily after wearing -- washing restores the fabric's elasticity
  • Hand wash, or machine wash on a gentle cycle between 30–40°C (86–104°F)
  • Use a mild detergent made for compression hosiery; never use fabric softener
  • Do not bleach or dry clean
  • Do not wring -- gently press out excess water in a towel instead
  • Turn stockings with a lace or crystal-motif band inside out and place in a laundry net before washing
  • Dry flat or tumble dry on a low/gentle setting; never dry in direct sun or on a radiator or heater

Put your compression garment on first thing in the morning, before swelling has built up, and make sure your skin is completely dry. Fabric or rubber gloves protect the knit and make the whole job easier.

  • Reach inside the garment, take hold of the heel and turn it inside out down to that point.
  • Stretch the foot opening with both hands, slide your foot in and draw the fabric carefully up over the heel.
  • Check the toe and heel are sitting where they should before you go any further.
  • Work the fabric up the leg a little at a time, spreading it evenly and smoothing out wrinkles; never overstretch it, and grip the knit rather than the seam of the top band.
  • Finish with the cuff about 1 cm (½ in) below the crease at the back of the knee.

Unless your prescriber says otherwise, wear it from morning to night, every day. Ask us about donning aids such as the medi Butler if gripping or bending is difficult.
