mediven® Forte is the strongest knit in the mediven round-knit range, an opaque seamless garment built for pressure stability. This version is knitted at 40-50 mmHg of graduated compression — firmest at the ankle, easing further up the leg so it works with your calf muscles to move blood back towards the heart.

An extremely hard-wearing seamless material holds its pressure rather than relaxing through the day, giving the high working pressure that produces a deep functional effect. The knee-high finish carries a stable soft cuff, and the fabric is fully opaque.

This is the thigh-high version, held up by a silicone top band that should sit about 2 cm (¾ in) below the fold of the buttock. The foot is closed toe, so the knit covers the whole foot. medi prints this range for CEAP classes C0 to C5; the full list is in the Indications tab.

Is this the right one for you?

Choose this if you wear compression every day and want the toughest knit in the range.

Want the leg covered? mediven Plus Thigh High 40-50 mmHg Compression Stockings has a smooth, matte opaque finish.

Limb swells and changes size through the day? Circaid Juxtalite HD 20-50 mmHg Adjustable Compression Wrap wraps on and re-tightens as the swelling goes down.

This product provides medical-grade Class 3 compression (40-50 mmHg). Medical-grade compression garments (20-30 mmHg and above) are commonly covered under Canadian extended health benefit plans (e.g. Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Blue Cross, Green Shield Canada) when accompanied by a valid prescription from your physician or nurse practitioner. It may also qualify as an eligible medical expense under the CRA's Medical Expense Tax Credit. We're happy to prepare an itemized estimate for your insurer — use Get an Insurance Estimate for this item, or add several to your cart and request one for everything at once. No charge, and it's not an order. Coverage details, annual limits, and prescription requirements vary by plan, so please confirm your specific benefits with your provider and keep your prescription and itemized receipt for your claim.

Measure first thing in the morning, before swelling builds, with the tape snug but not tight.

Every version has the same silicone dot topband (NoB) — silicone dots inside the top edge that grip the thigh so the stocking stays up — so the only choice in Fit is the length:

  • Length — Petite or Regular, set by your leg length

  • Wash daily after wearing -- washing restores the fabric's elasticity
  • Hand wash, or machine wash on a gentle cycle between 30–40°C (86–104°F)
  • Use a mild detergent made for compression hosiery; never use fabric softener
  • Do not bleach or dry clean
  • Do not wring -- gently press out excess water in a towel instead
  • Turn stockings with a lace or crystal-motif band inside out and place in a laundry net before washing
  • Dry flat or tumble dry on a low/gentle setting; never dry in direct sun or on a radiator or heater

Put your compression garment on first thing in the morning, before swelling has built up, and make sure your skin is completely dry. Fabric or rubber gloves protect the knit and make the whole job easier.

  • Reach inside the garment, take hold of the heel and turn it inside out down to that point.
  • Stretch the foot opening with both hands, slide your foot in and draw the fabric carefully up over the heel.
  • Check the toe and heel are sitting where they should before you go any further.
  • Work the fabric up the leg a little at a time, spreading it evenly and smoothing out wrinkles; never overstretch it, and grip the knit rather than the seam of the top band.
  • Finish with the top band about 2 cm (¾ in) below the fold of the buttock.

Unless your prescriber says otherwise, wear it from morning to night, every day. Ask us about donning aids such as the medi Butler if gripping or bending is difficult.
