Manumed is a wrist brace for immobilising the joint. A pre-shaped aluminium splint runs along the palm side of the wrist and three straps hold it there; the brace slips on rather than wrapping around, so it can be managed with one hand.

It is for immobilisation after a sprain, tendonitis and tenosynovitis, irritation of the wrist after an injury or an operation or from rheumatic disease, carpal tunnel syndrome, and rheumatoid arthritis.

Holding the wrist still is what settles swelling and inflammation, and steadying it from the palm side is what takes away the pain that comes with movement. The splint lifts out and can be bent to match the shape of your wrist — the fitter does this at the first fitting. The wide middle strap is held on by hook-and-loop and can be moved along the brace before it is closed, so its pressure lands where it suits you. Breathable medi Airtex material keeps it comfortable. Made as a left or a right. medi prints that this brace contains rigid material.

Hand wash only, in lukewarm water (about 30°C/86°F) with a mild detergent

If the splint needs shaping, take it out of the brace and bend it to the contour of your wrist.
Open all the straps and slide your hand into the brace, with the aluminium splint underneath, against the palm.
Close the front strap first, then the back strap.
Close the wide middle strap last; it is held on by hook-and-loop and can be moved along the underside of the brace before you fasten it.
