JOBST® Relief waist-high compression stockings are a medical garment for women and men, knitted at 20-30 mmHg. The compression is graduated — firmest at the ankle and easing as it goes up the leg — which supports the return of blood from the legs towards the heart.

Relief is JOBST's straightforward everyday line: unisex circular-knit compression with a reinforced foot area so it lasts, offered in the widest choice of coverage in the JOBST range — knee high, thigh high, waist high and chap.

The waist-high style joins two legs into a panty that reaches the waist, so it needs no top band to stay up. A closed toe encloses the toes like an ordinary sock. JOBST lists 20-30 mmHg for moderate to severe varicose veins, moderate limb swelling, pregnancy, superficial thrombophlebitis, and recovery after surgery or sclerotherapy.

Is this the right one for you?

Choose this if you want a straightforward, comfortable sock for work and everyday wear.

This product provides medical-grade Class 1 compression (20-30 mmHg). Medical-grade compression garments (20-30 mmHg and above) are commonly covered under Canadian extended health benefit plans (e.g. Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Blue Cross, Green Shield Canada) when accompanied by a valid prescription from your physician or nurse practitioner. It may also qualify as an eligible medical expense under the CRA's Medical Expense Tax Credit. We're happy to prepare an itemized estimate for your insurer — use Get an Insurance Estimate for this item, or add several to your cart and request one for everything at once. No charge, and it's not an order. Coverage details, annual limits, and prescription requirements vary by plan, so please confirm your specific benefits with your provider and keep your prescription and itemized receipt for your claim.

Measure first thing in the morning, before swelling builds, with the tape snug but not tight.

  • Wash daily, or at least every other day — by hand or on a gentle machine cycle in warm water up to 40°C (104°F)
  • Use a mild liquid detergent; do not use fabric softener, optical brightener or stain remover
  • Rinse thoroughly; do not bleach, dry clean or iron
  • Do not wring — roll the garment in a towel and press out the excess water
  • Dry flat, away from radiators and out of direct sunlight; check your garment's own label before tumble drying

How to put on your JOBST Relief waist-high compression stockings:

  • Turn the stocking inside out all the way down to the heel
  • Using both hands, pull apart the folded-in foot part and pull it over your foot, all the way to the heel
  • Gradually pull the stocking over the instep and heel
  • Work the stocking upward, returning it to a right-side-out position piece by piece
  • Smooth it out by massaging with both hands until it sits without creases — rubber gloves make this much easier
  • For the waist-high style, keep working the garment up to mid-thigh, then stand
  • With both hands, grab a handful of fabric and pull it up to your waist, snug at the midsection so it will not slide down
  • Slip your hands palm-out into the back, lift the fabric away from your skin, and let it fall back so it sits smoothly over the buttocks

Wear your compression garments regularly and consistently. JOBST recommends putting them on in the morning, immediately after getting up.
