The JOBST® FarrowWrap® 4000 Legpiece is the one FarrowWrap JOBST directs at venous leg ulcers rather than at lymphedema. JOBST does not recommend the 4000 for the treatment of lymphedema, because its bands do not overlap by 50% — which it calls an important safety factor — and what it is built for instead is day and night compression in the treatment of vascular problems as well as venous leg ulcers. An open wound must be covered with an appropriate dressing before the liner or the wrap goes on. The 4000 legpiece has an inner sleeve to help you get it on, and it is the only FarrowWrap made in black as well as beige. It comes with a FarrowHybrid® ADI liner, which puts 20-30 mmHg across the foot and ankle, and with a large FarrowWrap liner for a calf over 60 cm.

Is this the right one for you?

Choose this if you are treating a venous leg ulcer, or a vascular problem that needs compression day and night.

Treating lymphedema rather than an ulcer? JOBST FarrowWrap Strong Legpiece 30-40 mmHg is a lymphedema wrap, with bands that overlap by 50%.

Deep skin folds, or soft bulges of swollen tissue? JOBST FarrowWrap Classic Legpiece 30-40 mmHg is the stiffest fabric, and sits flat against folds.

  • Machine wash at 30°C (86°F) with a mild detergent
  • Do not use fabric softener, optical brightener or stain remover
  • Do not wring or twist; dry flat only — never tumble dry, and never on a radiator or in direct sunlight
  • Do not bleach, dry clean or iron
  • Fold each hook-and-loop band back on itself before washing and when you take the wrap off; it protects the fabric and makes the wrap easier to put back on

JOBST® publishes the step-by-step application on the insert card supplied with the wrap and in its donning videos — follow those and your clinician's instructions.

  • Cover any open wound with an appropriate dressing before anything else goes on
  • Put the FarrowHybrid ADI liner supplied with the wrap on first; the 4000's inner sleeve helps the wrap slide over it
  • Wrap the legpiece over the liner and fasten the bands from the ankle upwards
  • Tighten or loosen the bands through the day as the swelling changes
  • When you take the wrap off, fold each hook-and-loop band back on itself before putting it away or washing it
