Cutimed® Sorbact® Hydroactive B is the bordered version: the same bacteria-binding, absorbent gel dressing with an adhesive hydrogel border, so it fixes itself in place and needs no separate tape or retention bandage.

The dressing surface is coated with a highly hydrophobic (water-repelling) fatty acid derivative. Wound bacteria and fungi are hydrophobic too, so when the dressing is moist they are drawn to that surface and bind to it irreversibly, unable to move back into the wound. They leave with each dressing change. The action is physical rather than chemical, so nothing is killed in the wound and no cell debris or endotoxin is released to delay healing — and because no antiseptic or antibiotic is used, no resistance can develop.

Behind the Sorbact mesh sits a highly absorbent hydropolymer matrix under a semi-permeable polyurethane film: it keeps the wound bed moist, encourages the body's own breakdown of fibrin and dead tissue, and helps prevent the surrounding skin macerating. The fixation border is not made with natural rubber latex. Four sizes, from 7 x 8.5 cm to 14 x 24 cm.
