Cutimed® Sorbact® Hydroactive pairs bacteria binding with an absorbent hydropolymer core, so one dressing handles both the microbial load and the fluid. The core absorbs exudate and locks it in, which prevents the skin around the wound macerating, while staying permeable to water vapour and keeping the wound bed moist.

The dressing surface is coated with a highly hydrophobic (water-repelling) fatty acid derivative. Wound bacteria and fungi are hydrophobic too, so when the dressing is moist they are drawn to that surface and bind to it irreversibly, unable to move back into the wound. They leave with each dressing change. The action is physical rather than chemical, so nothing is killed in the wound and no cell debris or endotoxin is released to delay healing — and because no antiseptic or antibiotic is used, no resistance can develop.

It cushions the wound, conforms to the wound bed, does not stick to it and reduces wound odour, so dressing changes are atraumatic. Sterile, in five sizes from 7 x 8.5 cm to 24 x 24 cm.
