The hinge is one component of the CoxaTrain® hip orthosis, not the complete brace. It is the height-adjustable joint splint that connects the pelvic support to the thigh support.

It can be assembled and adjusted without any tools, and offers three degrees of restriction of hip movement (60°, 75°, 90°) via an optional joint limiting pin. Choose Short for body height under 170 cm and Long for body height over 170 cm.

A complete CoxaTrain fitting combines the pelvic support with a thigh support and a hinge, each sized independently — all three are supplied together as the Bauerfeind CoxaTrain Hip Brace. Bauerfeind advise that the components are not intended to be purchased or submitted to insurance separately, so order this one on its own only to replace a worn part or to complete an existing fitting.

This is the hinge component of the complete Bauerfeind CoxaTrain hip brace, not a standalone orthosis. A complete CoxaTrain fitting combines the pelvic support, a thigh support and a hinge, each sized separately, and Bauerfeind advises that the components are not intended to be purchased or submitted to insurance individually — the complete brace, which contains rigid elements, is the device a plan assesses. Bought on its own, this part is generally not eligible for reimbursement, so please confirm your plan's terms with your provider before ordering. If you are claiming the complete CoxaTrain brace, start there. We're happy to prepare an itemized estimate for your insurer — use Get an Insurance Estimate for this item, or add several to your cart and request one for everything at once. No charge, and it's not an order.

  • Size — the hinge bar's length, Short or Long, set by body height. Match the hinge already on your brace.

  • Machine wash in cold or cool water (about 30°C/86°F) on the gentle or delicate cycle
  • Wash with similar colours using a regular detergent with no additives -- avoid fabric softener
  • Use a mesh laundry bag, and secure hook-and-loop (velcro) tabs first to protect the knit
  • Hand washing is gentler and may extend the product's life
  • For light use, washing every two to three wears is enough; heavy use needs more frequent washing
  • Lay flat to air dry -- do not hang to dry (the fabric can stretch out of shape) and do not tumble dry
