The Aspen® VRTX™ CTO4 restricts movement of the neck and upper back in all three directions the spine moves: bending forward and back, bending side to side, and turning. Four upright posts — two at the front, two at the back — carry that load between a cervical collar and a vest on the chest and upper back.

The vest angle and height adjust independently of the collar, a lumbar panel passes behind the lower back and clips to the sides of the vest, and every contact point is padded. As part of the modular VRTX system it steps down to a VRTX MultiPost Collar as recovery progresses, rather than being replaced.

Not suitable for: hypersensitivity or allergy to any of the materials the brace is made from; swelling of the lymphatic tissue (the drainage network under the skin) caused by circulatory disorders; anyone whose clinician has told them not to wear a brace.

Aspen prints these steps for a clinician; the CTO4 is fitted by a trained fitter, not self-applied.

Pull and twist the dial to set the collar height.
Press the button on the yoke and pull to separate it, set the angle you want, then squeeze the yoke back together to lock it.
Press down on the secondary lock below the primary lock, slide the primary lock down, and turn the dial until the vest sits where you want it — as low as possible when the patient is lying down. Slide the button up to re-engage the lock.
Slide the back lumbar panel under the lower back, clip it to the sides of the vest, and pull the straps evenly until it is tight, adjusting the strap padding for comfort.
Fit the MultiPost collar and set its height for the best fit.
For the four-post configuration, log roll the patient onto their side, position the posterior assembly and collar back panel, and set the strut length by pressing the button and prying the back open. Bend the strut if needed to follow a rounded upper back.
Log the patient back onto their back, tighten both collar straps, then snap the lumbar straps into the vest and tighten to a snug, comfortable fit.
Confirm every adjustment button is secure after any change.
