The Aspen® VRTX™ CTLSO braces the spine from the neck to the sacrum in one off-the-shelf brace, for injuries that need the whole column supported at once. It is built around the VRTX collar and a two-piece back-and-front TLSO shell, so it can be applied to a patient lying down with less rolling than a one-piece brace needs.

The front assembly sets to height and the yoke angle adjusts independently, so the collar, the chest support and the trunk shell are each fitted to the wearer. Side panels pull out to the midline of the body from within the shell, which is what lets three sizes cover a wide range of anatomies. As part of the modular VRTX system, the same components step down to a TLSO or LSO as recovery progresses.

Aspen prints these steps for a clinician; the CTLSO is fitted by a trained fitter with the patient lying down.

Take the brace out of its packaging and find the posterior (back) assembly.
Keeping the spine in neutral alignment and with proper support, log roll the patient onto their side and centre the back assembly on the back.
Lift the locking mechanism to extend the rear collar section until it reaches the back of the head; bend the metal strut if needed to follow a rounded upper back. Log the patient back onto the panel.
Using the handles at each side, pull the rear side panels out so they stay centred, then lift the hook off the padding on both sides.
Centre the front panel, lift its locking mechanism and slide the pad to the right height, then lock it. Adjust the yoke angle and squeeze the yoke back together to hold it.
Fasten the hook-and-loop straps joining the front assembly to the collar, then pull the front side panels out to the side midline and press the securement latches down to lock them.
Clip the lateral panel straps into the collar on both sides and pull them gently downward for a snug fit under the arms.
Pull the pull tabs out to the fit you want and press them onto the loop material at the front. To remove, park the tabs at the side, unclip one CTLSO strap and its hook strap from the collar, and reverse the steps to put it back on.
