The Aspen® ROM Knee is a hinged brace that caps how far the knee is allowed to move while it heals — after surgery or an injury that has left the joint unstable. Pins in each hinge set the limits of bending and straightening, and are moved as rehabilitation progresses.

It is built as a wrap: the brace opens flat, goes behind the knee and closes around the leg, with straps that pull through D-rings so tension can be set strap by strap. The left and right sections detach and re-attach, so the circumference at the thigh and at the calf can be matched to the leg rather than assumed from one size.

The sized version is made from AirX, a breathable, moisture-wicking material that makes a long day in a brace easier to tolerate.

Is this the right one for you?

Choose this if you were prescribed a brace to hold the knee still or to limit how far it bends after surgery or injury.

Torn ligament, or repaired one? Aspen Ci Ligament Knee Brace is a rigid frame brace built to protect the ligament.

Knee gives way or shifts? medi Genumedi Pro Knee Orthosis adds hinges for side-to-side stability.

This is a medical-grade orthopaedic brace that incorporates rigid structural support. Braces and orthoses built with rigid components are usually covered under Canadian extended health benefit plans (e.g. Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Blue Cross, Green Shield Canada) when accompanied by a valid prescription from your physician or nurse practitioner. It may also qualify as an eligible medical expense under the CRA's Medical Expense Tax Credit. We're happy to prepare an itemized estimate for your insurer — use Get an Insurance Estimate for this item, or add several to your cart and request one for everything at once. No charge, and it's not an order. Coverage details, annual limits, and prescription requirements vary by plan, so please confirm your specific benefits with your provider and keep your prescription and itemized receipt for your claim.

  • Wash with mild detergent
  • Air dry
  • Do not use bleach or other chemicals

Aspen prints these steps; the range-of-motion pins should only be set by the clinician who prescribed the brace.

  • Size the brace first: open the front flaps, lay it flat, remove the left and right sections and re-attach them to match the thigh and calf measurements, then secure the hook-and-loop.
  • Open the brace and place it behind the knee.
  • Wrap the upper flap around the thigh and the lower flap around the calf, with the kneecap centred and the overlap sufficient that the hook never touches skin.
  • Starting with the bottom strap, pull each hook-and-loop strap through its D-ring and tighten to the support you want, then secure it.
  • The straps at the back can be adjusted for added comfort.
  • To reshape the hinge, remove it at the top of the brace — easier off the leg — and contour the hinge arms against a hard surface.
  • To change the allowed range, lift the cover off the hinge, set the pins to the degrees of flexion and extension required, and replace the hinge in its sleeve.
