The Aspen® Popple™ 631 LSO is a lumbar-sacral brace made for pregnancy and the months after it. A lifting action under the abdomen takes weight off the front of the body while compression across the back supports the lumbar spine, which is the combination the usual pregnancy complaints call for: low back pain, sciatica and pelvic girdle pain.

Aspen also lists it for support of diastasis recti, for pelvic tilt correction and for postural alignment, and states that it does not inhibit pelvic floor activation. It was developed with obstetricians and spine physicians.

Three sizes are set by waist measurement, and the compression straps can be shortened or lengthened as the body changes through and after pregnancy.

Is this the right one for you?

Choose this if you are pregnant or recently postpartum.

Pain lower down, across your pelvis or hips? Bauerfeind SacroLoc Pelvic Brace targets the joints where your spine meets your pelvis.

Everyday muscular back pain? Aspen Horizon PRO 631 LSO Back Brace is a lighter brace for strain and fatigue.

  • Air dry

Aspen prints these steps; ask your clinician before starting to wear a brace in pregnancy.

  • Set the size first: peel up the inside end of each side panel, adjust until the belt closes properly, and press it back down.
  • Place the pull tabs about 2 inches (5 cm) from the back panel, then pull the ends apart so the belt is fully extended.
  • Put the brace on with the back panel centred and low on the back, then bring it around to support the abdomen with the right side overlapping the left.
  • Slip your thumbs through the holes in the pull tabs, pull away from your body to the support you want, and press the tabs back down onto the brace.
  • Loosen or tighten the tabs through the day as the support you need changes.
  • To take it off, park the pull tabs at the side, peel the right side off the left, and fully extend the arms of the brace ready for next time.
  • The compression straps can be made longer or shorter: peel up the hook end, adjust the length, and press it back down.
