Actimove® Rhizo Forte is a thumb orthosis that holds the thumb in a functional position and immobilises the carpometacarpal (CMC — where the wrist meets the long bones of the hand) and first metacarpophalangeal (MCP1 — the knuckle joints where the fingers meet the hand) joints - the two joints at the base of the thumb that thumb osteoarthritis wears out. Restricting those joints while leaving everything else free is what takes the load off a painful thumb.

An aluminium core running across the palm can be adjusted and moulded to the individual hand, and the open, low-profile shape keeps the wrist and fingers free to move, so it can be worn through an ordinary day. Two hook-and-loop straps close with one hand.

The brace is made from dirt- and water-repellent materials, so it can stay on your hand while you wash them and dries quickly afterwards, and Actimove states it may be worn in contact with food. Ordered left or right.
