The Zip Stick is a cast removal aid: a flexible plastic stick slid under the cast before it is cut, so the scissors or the cast saw have a smooth path to follow and a physical layer sits between the blade and the skin.

Because it flexes along the length of the cast it follows the limb rather than fighting it, and both standard and metric rules are printed along the stick, so it doubles as a ruler in the cast room.
