The NEURODYN® COMFORT is a foot-lifting brace for foot drop, including where the paralysis is spastic rather than flaccid. Its distinguishing feature is that everything on it can be done with one hand — the ankle buckle closes single-handed and the cuff closes itself — which matters when the condition causing the foot drop has also weakened an arm.

A flexible inlay sole sits inside the shoe under the foot; it is thermoplastic, so a fitter can warm and shape it. A semi-elastic figure-of-eight strap gives the lift, and the straps have a stop function, so the setting found at the fitting is the setting you get back each time. How much the foot is allowed to roll in or out can be adjusted.

Sporlastic’s own word for the inlay sole is flexible: it guides the foot rather than locking it. It is fitted by shoe size and by the circumference just above the ankle.

  • Wash NEURODYN COMFORT ankle braces and sling bars gently in lukewarm water (30 °C) with liquid detergent and air dry
  • Do not dry it in the tumble dryer, on the heater or in the microwave
  • The insert can be cleaned with a damp cloth

Sporlastic prints these steps in the instructions for use supplied with the product.

  • We recommend wearing a stocking under the brace.
  • Place the brace in your shoe, with the lifting straps hanging out to the right and left.
  • Position the flat ankle clasp centrally over the Achilles tendon, with the Y-shaped strap pointing outwards.
  • The trick with the click: Gently squeeze the ankle brace until it snaps shut. Important: Only compress the ankle brace inwards. If it is bent outwards, the sewn-in metal band can break. This must be avoided at all costs.
  • Close the ankle brace with the inner hook-and-loop strap.
  • The ankle clasp can be readjusted with the outer, Y-shaped strap and its deflection eyelet.
  • Put on your shoe, place your foot on the ground and bend your knee forward.
  • Fasten the lifting straps crosswise to the ankle clasp under slight tension. Test the forefoot lift over a few steps and adjust the straps if necessary.
