The MALLEO-CAST® GEL is a stirrup-style ankle brace: two shaped shells sit either side of the ankle and hold it against rolling inwards or outwards, while bending the foot up and down is left free. It is used after an ankle sprain or a ligament tear, after a Weber A ankle fracture, after surgery, and to protect an ankle that has given way before.

Each shell is lined with gel padding that spreads the pressure and takes the edge off knocks. Two straps close the brace and can be re-tensioned at any point, so the hold can be eased as therapy moves on. The shells are slim enough to be worn inside a shoe.

It comes in one size, with a left and a right version.

Is this the right one for you?

Choose this if you were prescribed a boot or cast to hold the ankle still after a fracture or surgery.

Sprained it, or does it give way? Sporlastic ARTHROFIX AIR Ankle Brace stabilises the ligaments on the sides of the ankle.

  • Wash the pads of the brace gently in lukewarm water (30 °C) with mild detergent and air dry
  • Do not dry it in the tumble dryer, on the heater or in the microwave
  • The side shells can be cleaned with a damp cloth

Sporlastic prints these steps in the instructions for use supplied with the product.

  • We recommend wearing a stocking under the brace.
  • Place your heel on the foot pad of the opened brace. The padded sides point upwards.
  • To position the side shells correctly, fold the pads upwards and loosen the hook-and-loop fastener of the foot pad. Position the side shells so that the curves of the anatomically shaped side shells with the pads lie over the inner or outer ankle. Repeat this step on the respective other side rail and fold the pads back again.
  • Fix the lower hook-and-loop strap first. Pre-fix it on the hook-and-loop point provided so that the side shells keep the position you set in step 2. Then guide the lower strap through the lower deflection loop and close it.
  • Now fix the upper hook-and-loop strap. Pre-fix it on the hook-and-loop point provided so that the side shells keep the position you set in step 2. Then guide the upper strap through the upper deflection loop and close it.
  • The stability effect of the brace is optimised by wearing it in a closed shoe.
