mediven® Plus is an opaque, very resistant round-knit compression garment for people who want a hard-wearing everyday stocking. This version is knitted at 40-50 mmHg of graduated compression — firmest at the ankle, easing further up the leg so it works with your calf muscles to move blood back towards the heart.

A reinforced plus heel, an optimised toe and a ribbed sole reinforcement put extra material where the knit takes the most punishment. The 5 cm (2 in) cuff spreads its hold over a broad band, and the range adds extra-wide calf and thigh fittings.

This is the knee-high version, stopping just below the knee with the cuff about 1 cm (½ in) under the crease behind the knee. The foot is open toe, leaving the toes uncovered — useful if a closed toe feels tight, and a slip-on donning aid gets it past the heel. This listing carries the one bold shade in the range. medi prints this range for CEAP classes C0 to C5; the full list is in the Indications tab.

Is this the right one for you?

Choose this if standard sizes feel tight around your calf or thigh — “Plus” is medi's extra-wide fitting, not a stronger compression.

You also want the leg covered, in a smooth matte finish.

Medical-grade compression garments (20-30 mmHg and above) are commonly covered under Canadian extended health benefit plans (e.g. Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Blue Cross, Green Shield Canada) when accompanied by a valid prescription from your physician or nurse practitioner. It may also qualify as an eligible medical expense under the CRA's Medical Expense Tax Credit. We're happy to prepare an itemized estimate for your insurer — use Get an Insurance Estimate for this item, or add several to your cart and request one for everything at once. No charge, and it's not an order. Coverage details, annual limits, and prescription requirements vary by plan, so please confirm your specific benefits with your provider and keep your prescription and itemized receipt for your claim.

Measure first thing in the morning, before swelling builds, with the tape snug but not tight.

Each Fit names two things:

  • Length — Petite or Regular, set by your calf length
  • Silicone dot topband (NoB) — silicone dots inside the top edge that grip the leg so the sock stays up. The plain Petite and Regular come without it.

Check the size chart below. If your measurements don't fit a size on it, contact us and we'll help.

  • Wash daily after wearing -- washing restores the fabric's elasticity
  • Hand wash, or machine wash on a gentle cycle between 30–40°C (86–104°F)
  • Use a mild detergent made for compression hosiery; never use fabric softener
  • Do not bleach or dry clean
  • Do not wring -- gently press out excess water in a towel instead
  • Turn stockings with a lace or crystal-motif band inside out and place in a laundry net before washing
  • Dry flat or tumble dry on a low/gentle setting; never dry in direct sun or on a radiator or heater

Put your compression garment on first thing in the morning, before swelling has built up, and make sure your skin is completely dry. Fabric or rubber gloves protect the knit and make the whole job easier.

  • Slide the slip-on donning aid over your foot first — it lets the knit pass over the toes without catching.
  • Reach inside the garment, take hold of the heel and turn it inside out down to that point.
  • Stretch the foot opening with both hands, slide your foot in and draw the fabric carefully up over the heel.
  • Fold the foot section back towards the heel, pull the donning aid out, then draw the foot section back over your toes.
  • Check the toe and heel are sitting where they should before you go any further.
  • Work the fabric up the leg a little at a time, spreading it evenly and smoothing out wrinkles; never overstretch it, and grip the knit rather than the seam of the top band.
  • Finish with the cuff about 1 cm (½ in) below the crease at the back of the knee.

Unless your prescriber says otherwise, wear it from morning to night, every day. Ask us about donning aids such as the medi Butler if gripping or bending is difficult.
