Cutimed Siltec Sorbact B

Cutimed® Siltec® Sorbact® B puts the bacteria-binding Sorbact layer on the front of a super-absorbent foam dressing with a silicone adhesive border. It is the option when a wound needs infection control and heavy fluid management and a self-fixing dressing, all at once.

The dressing surface is coated with a highly hydrophobic (water-repelling) fatty acid derivative. Wound bacteria and fungi are hydrophobic too, so when the dressing is moist they are drawn to that surface and bind to it irreversibly, unable to move back into the wound. They leave with each dressing change. The action is physical rather than chemical, so nothing is killed in the wound and no cell debris or endotoxin is released to delay healing — and because no antiseptic or antibiotic is used, no resistance can develop.

Behind the Sorbact layer, super-absorbent stripes draw exudate straight up and away from the wound rather than letting it spread sideways, which lowers the risk of the surrounding skin macerating, and the backing lets moisture transpire while holding a moisture balance. The silicone border is skin-friendly and lifts off without trauma. Nine options, including two sacrum shapes and an oval.
