The Compression Sock Training is built for stop-and-go sport — the rapid turning and jumping of soccer, basketball or tennis — rather than for steady distance work. Functional zones knitted into the sock do specific jobs: a patented taping zone gives the ankle a greater feeling of stability, and a muscle tuning zone stimulates the parts of the calf under the most stress.

Between them they reduce muscle vibration, which is what brings on fatigue and cramping early, so the risk of injury drops and more energy is left at the end. A protective zone takes pressure and rubbing off the Achilles tendon, and shock-absorbing cushioning sits under the foot. The compression is a medical 20-30 mmHg, graduated so it is firmest at the ankle. Sold as a pair, closed toe, knitted anatomically for the left and right leg. Like every Bauerfeind product, it is made in Germany.

  • Machine wash in cold or cool water (about 30°C/86°F) on the gentle or delicate cycle
  • Wash with similar colours using a regular detergent with no additives
  • Never use fabric softener — it can impair the medical effect of a compression garment
  • Use a mesh laundry bag to protect the knit; hand washing is gentler still and may extend the garment's life
  • For light use, washing every two to three wears is enough; heavy use needs more frequent washing
  • Wash regularly — regular washing is what keeps the knit and the seams at full compression
  • Lay flat to air dry — do not hang to dry (the fabric can stretch out of shape) and do not tumble dry
