Active and passive stabilization of the knee joint – ideal for long-term treatment

SofTec® Genu is a multifunctional orthosis for stabilization of the knee. It is used, for example,in cases of torn ligaments, collateral ligament injury or arthritis. Its construction combines: stability and control provided by fixed joint splints, healing massage provided by a pad on the kneecap and maximum wearing comfort thanks to the anatomically shaped, breathable SofTec vector-oriented knitted fabric. Like every Bauerfeind product, it is made in Germany.

Is this the right one for you?

Choose this if a ligament is torn or has been repaired — the cruciate ligaments inside the knee, or the ones at the sides.

Knee gives way or shifts? Bauerfeind GenuTrain S Pro Knee Brace adds hinges for side-to-side stability.

Prescribed a brace after surgery? Bauerfeind GenuLoc Knee Immobilizer holds the knee still or limits how far it bends.

This is a medical-grade orthopaedic brace that incorporates rigid splints. Braces and orthoses built with rigid components are usually covered under Canadian extended health benefit plans (e.g. Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Blue Cross, Green Shield Canada) when accompanied by a valid prescription from your physician or nurse practitioner. It also delivers 20-30 mmHg of graduated compression. It may also qualify as an eligible medical expense under the CRA's Medical Expense Tax Credit. We're happy to prepare an itemized estimate for your insurer — use Get an Insurance Estimate for this item, or add several to your cart and request one for everything at once. No charge, and it's not an order. Hand wash only, and take the hinged splints out first — they are shaped to the body, colour-coded left and right, and must go back into the same side pockets they came from.

  • Never expose the orthosis to direct heat — no radiator, no direct sunlight.
  • Open the two thigh straps, pull them out of the plastic loops and turn the ends over to secure them, then open the side pockets by pulling the whole hook-and-loop area sideways.
  • Remove the two splints, keeping track of which side each came from.
  • Thread the straps back through the plastic loops and close all the fasteners so the hook-and-loop keeps working.
  • Hand wash separately with a mild detergent at 20-30°C (68-86°F) and let it dry.
  • Slide the splints back into the matching colour-coded side pockets, pushing the colour-coded upper part back under the inner pocket, then close the pockets.
