The SecuTec® Omo is a shoulder orthosis that holds the arm in a position a clinician sets, rather than simply resting it in a sling. It is used after shoulder surgery or a joint replacement, and after a dislocation, to keep the joint still and take the load off it while it heals.

The arm is carried on a rigid pelvic frame, which is why no shoulder strap is needed and the weight does not hang off the neck. Two settings are adjusted on the orthosis itself: how far the arm is held out from the body, up to 60 degrees, and how far it is turned in or out, changed at the touch of a button. The angle of the pelvic frame can also be set to match the body's shape, and the whole orthosis can be fitted at the bedside with the patient lying down.

Being able to change the position without taking the orthosis off is what allows movement to be reintroduced gradually as recovery allows. Like every Bauerfeind product, it is made in Germany.
