The RhizoLoc® OA secures the thumb and index finger in a defined position and immobilizes the carpometacarpal (where the wrist meets the long bones of the hand) joint and metacarpophalangeal (the knuckle joints where the fingers meet the hand) joint of the thumb. Grasping movements are guided and strain is reduced.

In addition to chronic symptoms caused by osteoarthritis, this orthosis can also be used in cases of arthritis or following injuries and surgery to support functional treatment measures to achieve pain relief and mobilization. Like every Bauerfeind product, it is made in Germany.

Close all the fasteners and hand wash the orthosis at 30°C (86°F) with a mild detergent or washing-up liquid. Everything can stay attached to the brace.
The textile thumb strap will not stick while it is wet: swap in the second wrapping tape supplied with the brace, and use the first again once it has dried.
Do not tumble dry — pat it with a towel or let it air dry.
Never leave the brace in direct heat — no radiator, no direct sunlight, and not in a parked car; heat damages the material and can stop the brace working properly.
Wash it regularly; that is what keeps it working as it should.
