The Merino Knee Compression Sleeve relieves and stabilizes the knee through targeted medical compression. The constant pressure stimulates the metabolism and activates the muscles around the joint, improving proprioception — your body's own sense of where its joints are — and with it joint coordination. What sets this version apart is the mulesing-free merino wool in the knit, which regulates temperature and wicks moisture away, so it stays comfortable over a full day.

Medical compression sleeves apply graduated compression of 20-30 mmHg to promote circulation, so the muscle underneath receives more oxygen. The stimulated blood flow warms the muscle, which helps protect it against injury, and the gentle compression damps the uncomfortable muscle vibration that brings on fatigue early and slows recovery afterwards. Sleeves are sold individually. Like every Bauerfeind product, it is made in Germany.

This product provides medical-grade Class 1 compression (20-30 mmHg). Medical-grade compression garments (20-30 mmHg and above) are commonly covered under Canadian extended health benefit plans (e.g. Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Blue Cross, Green Shield Canada) when accompanied by a valid prescription from your physician or nurse practitioner. It may also qualify as an eligible medical expense under the CRA's Medical Expense Tax Credit. We're happy to prepare an itemized estimate for your insurer — use Get an Insurance Estimate for this item, or add several to your cart and request one for everything at once. No charge, and it's not an order. Coverage details, annual limits, and prescription requirements vary by plan, so please confirm your specific benefits with your provider and keep your prescription and itemized receipt for your claim.

Measure first thing in the morning, before swelling builds, with the tape snug but not tight.

  • Machine wash in cold or cool water (about 30°C/86°F) on the gentle or delicate cycle
  • Wash with similar colours using a regular detergent with no additives
  • Never use fabric softener — it can impair the medical effect of a compression garment
  • Use a mesh laundry bag to protect the knit; hand washing is gentler still and may extend the garment's life
  • For light use, washing every two to three wears is enough; heavy use needs more frequent washing
  • Wash regularly — regular washing is what keeps the knit and the seams at full compression
  • Lay flat to air dry — do not hang to dry (the fabric can stretch out of shape) and do not tumble dry
