Not suitable for: hypersensitivity or allergy to any of the materials the brace is made from; swelling of the lymphatic tissue (the drainage network under the skin) caused by circulatory disorders; anyone whose clinician has told them not to wear a brace.

This is a medical-grade orthopaedic brace that incorporates rigid structural support. Braces and orthoses built with rigid components are commonly covered under Canadian extended health benefit plans (e.g. Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Blue Cross, Green Shield Canada) when accompanied by a valid prescription from your physician or nurse practitioner. It may also qualify as an eligible medical expense under the CRA's Medical Expense Tax Credit. We're happy to prepare an itemized estimate for your insurer — use Get an Insurance Estimate for this item, or add several to your cart and request one for everything at once. No charge, and it's not an order. Coverage details, annual limits, and prescription requirements vary by plan, so please confirm your specific benefits with your provider and keep your prescription and itemized receipt for your claim.

This one comes in a single size. Contact us if you would like help checking the fit.

• Peel the pads away from the hook dots to take them off. The back-panel pad comes off once the straps are unthreaded from the pad and the plastic.
• Hand wash the pads with mild soap and warm water and rinse all the soap out. Do not machine wash them, do not put them in a dryer and do not use bleach.
• Wipe the plastic shell with mild soap and water, rinse it and towel dry it before putting the pads back on.
• Press the pads with a towel to squeeze the water out, then lay them flat to air dry. Aspen says this typically takes 6 to 8 hours. Do not use heat.
• Wear a spare set of pads while the first set dries.

Aspen prints these steps for a clinician fitting the collar; a first fitting should be supervised.

• Pre-form the back panel so the plastic side pieces are slightly curved, and keep the head in neutral alignment throughout.
• Start with the front panel at its lowest setting. Slide the collar up the chest and pivot it up and under the chin, bringing the sides up over the trapezius muscles (the sloping muscles between neck and shoulder).
• Hold the collar against the chest, pull the dial out to unlock it and turn it clockwise until the chin piece supports the chin, then release the dial to lock it.
• Set the MultiPost back panel height off the patient: press the lock release, slide the yellow button left to unlock, adjust, then slide it right to lock. Align the top of the back panel with the middle of the ear as a starting point.
• Press the back panel down and slide it behind the neck, making sure it makes good contact with the trapezius.
• Attach the loop strap on each side, tightening one side at a time and matching the two for a snug, symmetrical fit.
• Check the back of the chin piece is not pressing on the throat; if it is, lift the back ends of the side panels off the trapezius muscles.
