The Aspen® Vista® MultiPost Cervical Collar adds pivoting panels at the back of the head to the Vista collar, holding the head more firmly than a standard collar for injuries that need a higher level of motion restriction.

The front panel is dialled to height in the usual Vista way; the MultiPost back panel then adjusts separately, off the patient, so the front and back of the collar are each set to the wearer. Cotton-lined pads reduce the contact points in the occipital (the back of the head) area during long wear.

It sits between a plain cervical collar and a cervical-thoracic orthosis, and is often the step down from a VRTX™ CTO family brace as treatment progresses.

Not suitable for: hypersensitivity or allergy to any of the materials the brace is made from; swelling of the lymphatic tissue (the drainage network under the skin) caused by circulatory disorders; anyone whose clinician has told them not to wear a brace.

Aspen prints these steps for a clinician fitting the collar; a first fitting should be supervised.

Pre-form the back panel so the plastic side pieces are slightly curved, and keep the head in neutral alignment throughout.
Start with the front panel at its lowest setting. Slide the collar up the chest and pivot it up and under the chin, bringing the sides up over the trapezius muscles (the sloping muscles between neck and shoulder).
Hold the collar against the chest, pull the dial out to unlock it and turn it clockwise until the chin piece supports the chin, then release the dial to lock it.
Set the MultiPost back panel height off the patient: press the lock release, slide the yellow button left to unlock, adjust, then slide it right to lock. Align the top of the back panel with the middle of the ear as a starting point.
Press the back panel down and slide it behind the neck, making sure it makes good contact with the trapezius.
Attach the loop strap on each side, tightening one side at a time and matching the two for a snug, symmetrical fit.
Check the back of the chin piece is not pressing on the throat; if it is, lift the back ends of the side panels off the trapezius muscles.
