medi began in Bayreuth in 1951, when Wolfgang Weihermüller crossed the inner-German border carrying parts of a knitting machine and set up with his cousin Günter Voigtmann in a former dance hall. In 1964 the company produced the first seamless, highly elastic compression stocking with a covered weft thread, and the Spinomed osteoporosis orthosis followed in 1998. It is family-run to this day, now in the third generation.

From the venous range we carry mediven — Elegance, Plus, Forte, Comfort, Angio, Active, Select, Vitality, Harmony, Travel and For Men — alongside the circaid adjustable wraps, which fasten with straps instead of being pulled on.

The orthopaedic range runs from knee to thumb: Genumedi and M.4s at the knee, Levamed at the ankle, Lumbamed and Spinomed at the spine, Manumed and Rhizomed at the wrist and thumb, Epicomed at the elbow and Omomed at the shoulder — with a Kidz range sized for children.
